Based on a true Story /of 6 subjects moving

During the group travel project Re:Re: Residence Revisited I developed this installation, initially based on 6 battery-powered machines, representing the participants of the project and developping on their journey according to the physical situation as well as my mindset in each location. The develloping objects were integrated into a new installation, considering the events that had happened.

Introduction /Belgrade, Serbia

The depiction of the status of each object is connected to my perception of interaction between the artists. All objects were found on a "gipsy fleemarket" under a bridge in Belgrade and transformed to fit my image of the trips passengers:

Transit /St.Petersburg, Russia

Moving to Russia, I packed a box with the 6 machines and took it on a train for a three day travel. On the boarder to Ukraine I opened it and explained the objects to the controlling officer.

Having lived altogether, 6 people, on little space in Belgrade and St.Petersburg, and in the train-coupé, I decided to leave the box as the new object, moving the 6 machines together.

Lost & Found /Zürich, Switzerland

On the travel to Switzerland, the box was lost due to mistakes of the airline. So, for the exhibition in Cabaret Voltaire, I expressed my dismay, using the only thing left from the object: the video documentation.

The pillow and blanket I took from that exact airline, for the night that had to be spent in Düsseldorf Int. Airport.

The fluide that is squirted onto the pillow and blanket is the tear fluide from my contact lenses that had been sqeezed into my other luggage during the same flight.

What goes around comes around /Quito, Ecuador

After three months of travelling and having passed through three stations before, the box arrived with me in Ecuador for the final exhibition.

I decided to show the documentation of the three stations before and make it rotate around the box, so the spectator would have to walk around the object three times in order to retrace the travel of the box.

Starting out in Serbia, our next station will be in Russia.

Red, blue and white are the colors of the national flag of Serbia. These colors, upside down: white, blue and red are the colors from the Russian flag. The double-headed eagle (stylized) is the national symbol of both countries.
