Soapbubbles
I´ve started my research about soapbubbles, of course, to get a hold of its vanishing beauty. Since baroque they have been used in artworks as a symbol, describing the above mentioned. In some works I used this traditional Image, in others I've tried to impede it, helping myself with technical gadgets.
Freezing it is decidedly the best technique for longtime-conservation of the fragile membrane. However, this is an absolute method. The once frozen soapbubbles cannot (yet) be reanimated!
To preserve a vital Soapbubble I recommend the use of liquid-maintaining machines of the SLEM family. Shown in the exhibition "Flat Grey" in Fung Sway Gallery, Kopenhague, in 2007 for the first time, the SLEM 1 is capable of preserving a soapbubble, by maintaining it with a constant flow of soapbubbleliquid. The SLEM 2, an advanced version, has been tested positively on 22nd decembre 2007.
More Soapbubbledrawings have yet to be added, as well as Bubbles
in Boxes. The Bubbles loaded with ink are blown into boxes through a hole. When exploding, they leave an imprint in the cube. These marks can be retraced to the three dimensional
sphere.
