The SLEM3 maintains a chosen soapbubble over a period of time by preventing it to burst from dehydration. A constant flow of solution (bubble-juice) is pumped to the summit, to counteract the effects of gravity pulling on the membrane.

On July 4th, a bubble was maintained for 4 hours and 31 minutes.
